Smoking Snakes ist eine schwedische Sleaze-Metal- und Hard-Rock-Band aus Göteborg, die 2022 gegründet wurde. Bekannt für ihren energetischen 80er-Jahre-Arena-Sound, der an Bands wie W.A.S.P., RATT und Dokken erinnert, haben sie sich als eine der aufregendsten neuen Truppen im klassischen Sleaze-Genre etabliert.
Das dem genau so ist, davon kann man sich nun auf ihrem zweiten Studioalbum, All Lights on, welches gerade veröffentlicht wurde überzeugen. Frischer Wind weht aus dem hohen Norden übers Meer und präsentiert sich in Form einer vier Mann starken Formation.
Auch auf dem zweiten Album, setzt man voll auf die Stärken des klassischen 70er/80er Jahre Metals, ohne dabei auch nur im Ansatz veraltet oder gar vergleichbar zu klingen. Ganz im Gegenteil präsentieren die Schweden einen frischen, modernen Sound, der sich zwar an alten Mustern orientiert, aber absolut neu klingt. Das neue Studiowerk beinhaltet zwölf rockige Nummern, die ganz einfach ihrer Linie folgen und somit ein interessantes Gesamtbild abliefern. Man fühlt sich in der Zeit zurückversetzt, und doch in der Moderne angekommen. Dazu kommt noch das die Herren ihr Handwerk verstehen und somit zur besten Unterhaltung beitragen. Das Album besteht durchweg aus handgemachten Riffs und Rhythmen, die den Hörer antreiben und Spaß machen. Hier darf man gespannt sein, in welche Richtung diese ja noch junge Band sich entwickelt. Vorerst darf man aber erst einmal das neue Werk sowie seinen VCorgänger genießen. Nicht nur für Fans der alten Klänge!

Smoking Snakes is a Swedish sleaze metal and hard rock band from Gothenburg, formed in 2022. Known for an energetic 80s arena-rock sound reminiscent of bands like W.A.S.P., RATT, and Dokken, they have established themselves as one of the most exciting new acts in the classic sleaze genre.
You can hear for yourself that this is indeed the case on their second studio album, *All Lights On*, which has just been released. A breath of fresh air is blowing across the sea from the far north, delivered by this four-piece outfit.
On this second album, the band once again leans heavily into the strengths of classic 70s and 80s metal without ever sounding dated or derivative. On the contrary, the Swedes present a fresh, modern sound that—while drawing inspiration from established templates—feels entirely new. The new record features twelve rock-driven tracks that stay true to their signature style, creating a compelling overall package. It feels like a trip back in time, yet firmly rooted in the present day. Add to that the fact that these musicians truly know their craft, ensuring top-notch entertainment. The album is packed with organic riffs and rhythms that drive the music forward and make for a fun listening experience. It will be exciting to see how this young band evolves from here. For now, however, fans can simply enjoy this new release—and its predecessor. Not just for fans of the old-school sound!
