The Gems schlagen mit, „Eye oft he Snake“ das zweite Kapitel ihrer Erfolgsreise auf. Nachdem sich das Trio geschlossen vom „Mutterschiff“ Thundermother getrennt hatte und bereits mit der ersten „Solo“ Single auf Platz Zwei der Charts stürmte und das folgende Debüt Album sowie die folgenden Live-Auftritte selbst den letzten Zweifel beseitigt hatten, startete das schwedische Trio erst so richtig durch. Nun sind sie mit Album Nummer zwei zurück und präsentieren sich in bester Spiellaune. Bereits der Opener, „The Wall“, die eingerissen werden muss, weist den Weg in die richtige Richtung, um dann auch gleich mit dem Titeltrack für Klarheit zu sorgen. Hier wird gerockt bis der Arzt kommt. Die Ladys sind heiß auf treibende Rhythmen und stampfende Riffs. Dies servieren sie dann auch gleich einmal mit insgesamt vierzehn neuen Nummern, die vor Kraft nur so strotzen. Somit festigen The Gems ihren Stand in der Rockszene und beweisen damit, dass sie zum eine keine Eintagsfliege und zum anderen eine Größe sind mit der gerechnet werden muss. Hierbei variiert der Sound zwischen klassischem Rock und Hard Rock der alten Schule mit frischem Wind und der nötigen Power an weiblicher Energie. Guernica Mancini am Mikrofon, Emlee Johansson an den Drums und Mona “Demona” Lindgren an Gitarre und Bass beweisen erneut, dass sie ihr Handwerk verstehen. Das freut den werten Hörer. Wer nun noch nicht genug von den Damen hat, der darf sich auf die anstehende Tour freuen, die The Gems natürlich auch wieder nach god old Germany führen wird. With "Year of the Snake," The Gems open the second chapter of their successful journey. After the trio parted ways with their "mothership," Thundermother, and stormed to number two in the charts with their first solo single, and their subsequent debut album and live performances dispelled any remaining doubts, the Swedish trio truly took off. Now they're back with their second album and are in top form. The opener, "The Wall," which needs to be torn down, points the way in the right direction, and the title track immediately confirms this. This is rock 'n' roll. The ladies are hungry for driving rhythms and stomping riffs. They deliver this with a total of fourteen new tracks bursting with energy. The Gems thus solidify their position in the rock scene and prove that they are not just a flash in the pan, but a force to be reckoned with. The sound here ranges from classic rock to old-school hard rock, infused with a fresh energy and plenty of female power. Guernica Mancini on vocals, Emlee Johansson on drums, and Mona “Demona” Lindgren on guitar and bass once again prove their mastery of their craft. This is sure to delight the discerning listener. And for those who still haven't had their fill of these ladies, the upcoming tour will, of course, bring The Gems back to good old Germany. We're eager to hear how the new songs sound live.
