Das melancholischer Death Metal nicht gleich melancholischer Death Metal ist, dass beweisen die finnischen Mitglieder der Band, Marianas Rest, seit 2016 immer wieder. So erscheint nun nach ihren bisher allesamt erfolgreichen vier Alben, das nunmehr fünfte Werk, beim neuen Label, Nobel Demon. Nachdem man sich bereits erfolgreich Themen wie, Isolation, Verzweiflung und Konflikte, sowie der Folgen militärischer Unruhen widmete, legt man auf, The Beveared, so der Titel des neuen Werkes, an das Thema Tod und „Hinterlassenschaft“ Hand an. Man stellt unter anderem die Frage, wer die „Glücklicheren“ sind, die Verstorbenen oder die Hinterbliebenen. Makaber? Nun wie man es eben nimmt. Auf alle Fälle gelingt es Marianas Rest erneut den Hörer zu fesseln und ihn mitzunehmen auf eine Reise. Eine Reise in die Dunkelheit und Tiefe der Seele. Gedanken werden freigesetzt und Fragen gestellt, die wohl jeder Hörer für sich selbst beantworten muss. Die Musiker setzen auch bei diesem Album voll auf ihre Stärken von melodiösem Dark Metal und bis ins Mark erschütterndem Gesang. Sie präsentieren ihre Songs mal getragen langsam, mal aggressiv schnell und treffen hierbei immer voll den Nerv der Zeit. Ein weiteres Album, welches nicht nur gehört, sondern auch überdacht werden möchte. Ein Album das Nachdenklich stimmt und zu Diskussionen anregt. So kann man sagen, hat die finnische Formation ihr Ziel erreicht und ein starkes Werk erschaffen und nun veröffentlicht.

The Finnish members of the band Marianas Rest have been proving since 2016 that melancholic death metal is not just melancholic death metal. Following their four successful albums to date, their fifth work is now being released on the new label, Nobel Demon. Having already successfully addressed topics such as isolation, despair, and conflict, as well as the consequences of military unrest, The Beveared, the title of the new work, tackles the subject of death and “legacy.” Among other things, they ask who are the “happier” ones, the deceased or the bereaved. Macabre? Well, it depends on how you look at it. In any case, Marianas Rest once again succeeds in captivating the listener and taking them on a journey. A journey into the darkness and depths of the soul. Thoughts are released and questions are asked that every listener must answer for themselves. On this album, the musicians once again rely fully on their strengths of melodic dark metal and vocals that shake you to the core. They present their songs sometimes slowly and solemnly, sometimes aggressively and quickly, always striking a chord with the spirit of the times. Another album that not only wants to be heard, but also thought about. An album that makes you think and stimulates discussion. So you could say that the Finnish band has achieved its goal and created and now released a powerful work.
