2009 wird als Gründungsjahr einer Berliner Alternative Rock Band aus, Kreuzberg, mit Namen Vadot festgehalten. Die Idee electronische Klänge mit analogen Instrumenten zu mischen stand von Anfang an ganz Oben auf der Agenda der vier sympathischen Musiker. Dies hat sich bis heute nicht geändert. Zwar befindet sich Vadot noch immer eher in den unteren Regalen der ganz großen Musikindustrie, doch haben sie längst einen Platz im weiten Mittelfeld, wenn nicht gar noch etwas höher verdient. Sänger und Frontmann Thilo meint dazu nur, völlig selbstverständlich, „Nun, wir machen das ja nur weil es uns verdammt viel Spaß macht“. Das merkt man den vier Berlinern auch sofort an, spätesten wenn man das große Vergnügen hat sie einmal Live erleben zu können. Vier Studioalben, eine erste EP aus dem Gründungsjahr zählt der bisherige Backkatalog. Besonders das letzte Studiowerk, Resonanz, erhielt hier überschwänglichen Lob und durchaus positive „Resonanzen“. (Na wenn das mal nicht am Albumtitel lag. Kleiner Scherz der Redaktion). Dies führte auch dazu, das man Platz drei der DAC (Deutschen Album Charts) erreichte. Auch, oder gerade durch ihre zahlreichen Liveauftritte machte sich die Band, besonders in der schwarzen Szene einen Namen. So spielte man im Vorprogram solcher Größen wie, Großstadtgeflüsster, Schwefelgelb oder gar Sigue Sigue Sputnik oder trat auf Festivals wie dem WGT in Reihe in den Jahren 2012 – 2019 auf. Live bereiste die Formation aber nicht nur deutsche Lande, sondern machte auch schon einen Abstecher ins nähere Ausland, Hier kann man Rumänien z.B. nennen. Wo auch immer Vadot erscheinen, überzeugen sie durch ihre Leidenschaft und Bühnenpräsenz. Die hierdurch verströmte gute Laune ist dabei schon beinah ansteckend. Rein Inhaltlich liegen die Texte der Band im Bereich alltäglicher Geschehnisse und Situationen die wohl beinah jedem von uns im Laufe des Lebens schon einmal wiederfahren sind. Besonders der etwas düster anmutende Klang und Rhythmus ist das Besondere an der Musik der Berliner. So lasten einige Songs so schwer auf dem Hörer, dass er nicht umhinkommt sich näher mit dem Inhalt zu befassen.
Nun war es gestern nach langer Zeit mal wieder soweit. Nach einer gefühlten Ewigkeit, soll das Sturm auf die Bastille Festival 2017 tatsächlich das letzte Mal gewesen sein das wir sie Live erlebt haben?, stand Vadot nun gestern im coolen Ambiente der Wild at Heart Bar um ihre gerade frisch erschienene EP, Still, zu feiern auf der Bühne. Es wurde wie gewohnt gerockt, gefeiert und getanzt. Die anwesende Fangemeinde feierte ihre Helden und so wurde es ein grandioser Abend mit guten Freunden.
Der Anlass diesmal war, wie bereits erwähnt das Erscheinen der neuen EP, Still. Still, enthält fünf neue Kompositionen, die sich im Großen und Ganzen am Style Vadot’s orientiert, was Musik und Texte betrifft, und doch hat man einen Schritt vorwärts gewagt und das neue Material ohne Hilfe der sonst üblichen Elektronik eingespielt. So klingen Vadot 2024 etwas rauer, aber nicht viel veränderter als man sie kennt. Thilo sagt dazu, „ es klingt rockiger, aber gerockt haben wir ja eigentlich schon immer“. Dem ist nichts weiter hinzuzufügen. Wer nun Lust auf die Musik dieser drei Herren und einer Dame, die im Übrigen die Drums bedient, bekommen hat, dem empfehlen wir sehr gern die Studioalben und ganz besonders das neue Werk, Still, was ganz und gar nicht Still ist. Wir für unseren Teil sind aufs Neue erfreut etwas von Vadot gehört und sie persönlich wiedergesehen zu haben und erteilen hiermit eine hundertprozentige Kaufempfehlung.

2009 is recorded as the founding year of a Berlin alternative rock band from Kreuzberg called Vadot. The idea of mixing electronic sounds with analog instruments was at the top of the four likeable musicians' agenda right from the start. This has not changed to this day. Although Vadot are still on the lower shelves of the big music industry, they have long since earned a place in the far midfield, if not a little higher. Singer and frontman Thilo says, quite naturally, "Well, we only do it because we enjoy it so damn much". You can tell that the four Berliners have a lot of fun, at least when you have the great pleasure of seeing them live. Their back catalog includes four studio albums and a first EP from the founding year. The last studio album in particular, Resonanz, received effusive praise and thoroughly positive "feedback". (Well, if it wasn't for the album title - a little joke from the editors). This also led to them reaching number three in the DAC (German Album Charts). The band also made a name for themselves, especially in the black scene, through their numerous live appearances. They have played as support acts for the likes of Großstadtgeflüsster, Schwefelgelb or even Sigue Sigue Sputnik and performed at festivals such as the WGT in Reihe in the years 2012 - 2019. The band has not only toured Germany live, but has also made a detour to neighboring countries, such as Romania. Wherever Vadot appear, they impress with their passion and stage presence. The good mood they exude is almost infectious. In terms of content, the band's lyrics deal with everyday events and situations that have probably happened to almost all of us at some point in our lives. The somewhat gloomy sound and rhythm is what makes the Berliners' music so special. Some songs weigh so heavily on the listener that he can't help but take a closer look at the content.
Yesterday was the day again after a long time. After what felt like an eternity - is the Sturm auf die Bastille Festival 2017 really the last time we saw them live? - Vadot took to the stage yesterday in the cool ambience of the Wild at Heart Bar to celebrate their recently released EP, Still. As usual, there was rocking, partying and dancing. The fans in attendance celebrated their heroes and it was a great evening with good friends.
The occasion this time was, as already mentioned, the release of the new EP, Still. Still, contains five new compositions which, by and large, are based on Vadot's style in terms of music and lyrics, and yet they have taken a step forward and recorded the new material without the help of the usual electronics. So Vadot 2024 sound a little rougher, but not much more changed than we know them. Thilo says, "It sounds more rocking, but we've always rocked". There's nothing more to add to that. If you are now interested in the music of these three men and a lady, who incidentally plays the drums, we are happy to recommend the studio albums and especially the new album, Still, which is not at all Still. For our part, we are once again delighted to have heard something from Vadot and to have seen them again in person and hereby give them a one hundred percent recommendation to buy.
