Bereits im Jahr 2017 veröffentlichte die noch ziemlich junge Metal-Band, Uncured, Ihr Debut Album, Medusa, welches zu einem der zehn besten Metal-Alben des Jahres 2017 gekürt wurde. Auch das zwei Jahre später veröffentlichte zweite Studioalbum, Epidemic, feierte große Erfolge, bis die weltweite Corona Pandemie vorerst für eine Zwangspause sorgte. Es folgte eine EP mit Namen, Uncoverd, welche unter anderem Coverversionen von Bands wie den Beasty Boys, America oder auch Slayer enthielt. Nun melden sich die vier Herren aus New Jersey USA zurück und starten mit ihrer neuen EP, My Design, noch einmal völlig neu durch. Beim neueren Material der Band macht sich Uncured ihren Sound zunutze und stellt Rex‘ weitreichenden Stimmumfang und Zaks eindrucksvolle Gitarrenarbeit zur Schau. Die Band strahlt durch ihre dynamische Musikalität und emotionalen Arrangements ein klar definiertes Gefühl von Selbstvertrauen und Identität aus. So können die sieben aktuellen Songs sowohl durch ihren eigenen Rhythmus mit verdammt viel Gefühl und dennoch der genügenden Härte mehr als überzeugen. Hier gibt die Mischung und Abwechslung den Ton an. Klassische Riffs treffen auf modernen Metal was durchaus für sehr abwechslungsreiche Songs sorgt und Spaß verbreitet. Another Angel dies zum Beispiel überzeugt allein schon durch seine gefühlvolle Art einer ganz starken Rock Ballade. Während die Riffs in Fight this War schon beinah halsbrecherisch daher kommen. Stimmlich als auch instrumental können Uncured mehr als überzeugen. Wer nun also nicht zwingend am klassischen Hard Rock und Heavy Metal festhalten muss/möchte und offen für eine moderne Mischung ist, der wird hier voll auf seine Kosten kommen. Bleibt abschließend nur festzustellen, dass man gespannt sein darf, wenn diese sieben Track EP schon so überzeugen kann, was vermag dann wohl das neue Studioalbum, welches sich nicht lange auf sich warten lässt?
The relatively young metal band Uncured released their debut album Medusa in 2017, which was voted one of the ten best metal albums of 2017. The second studio album, Epidemic, released two years later, also celebrated great success until the global corona pandemic caused a forced break for the time being. An EP called Uncoverd followed, which included cover versions of bands such as the Beasty Boys, America and Slayer. Now the four gentlemen from New Jersey USA are back and starting again from scratch with their new EP, My Design. On the band's more recent material, Uncured capitalizes on their sound, showcasing Rex's expansive vocal range and Zak's impressive guitar work. The band exudes a clearly defined sense of confidence and identity through their dynamic musicality and emotional arrangements. So the seven current songs can more than convince with their own rhythm with a lot of feeling and still enough heaviness. The mix and variety sets the tone here. Classic riffs meet modern metal, which makes for very varied songs and spreads fun. Another Angel, for example, convinces with its emotional nature of a very strong rock ballad. Whereas the riffs in Fight This War are almost breakneck. Vocally as well as instrumentally Uncured can more than convince. So if you don't necessarily want to stick to classic Hard Rock and Heavy Metal and are open to a modern mix, you'll get your money's worth here. In conclusion, it only remains to be stated that one can be curious, if this seven track EP is already so convincing, what can the new studio album, which is not long in coming, be capable of?
