Die Geschichte der Band, „The Instigators“ begann in den Achtziger Jahren. In der Urbesetzung veröffentlichte man 1984 die Debüt-EP und ein Jahr später das Album „Nobody Listens Anymore“, welche beide sehr gut von Kritikern und Fans aufgenommen wurden. Der Sound der Punk-Rocker trieb die Hörer voran und sorgte für einige Überraschungen. So schafften es die Platten auf das Cover des renommierten Magazins Maximum Rock ’n’ Roll. Auch der amerikanische Künstler Pushead unterstützte Instigators und nahm Songs auf seine weltweite Compilation „Cleanse The Bacteria“ auf. Die Band löste sich beinah auf als sowohl Sänger, Bassist und Schlagzeuger die Band verließen. Einzig Gründungsmitglied Simon Mooney ohne Band zurück. Da allerdings einige Shows gebucht waren und Mooney den festen Willen besaß weiterzumachen, engagierte er kurzerhand mit, Andy Turner und Andy Turnbull sowie Steve Curran am Schlagzeug und man Tourte durch Europa. 1986 veröffentlichte man das Album Phönix und überquerte den Atlantik zu einer Nordamerika-Tournee, die am 27. Juni im Lupos in Providence (Rhode Island) mit The Adolescents und Murphy’s Law begann und am 14. August im On Broadway in San Francisco endete. 1987 veröffentlichten sie die einprägsame Single „Full Circle / Sleeper“, und mit dem Album „Shockgun“ von 1988 setzten sie neue Maßstäbe und absolvierten insgesamt über 16 ausgedehnte Europa-Tourneen. Nach zwei ausgedehnten Europatourneen Anfang der 90er-Jahre verabschiedeten sich die INSTIGATORS in Mailand.
2025 nun, feierte die Band ihr dreißigjähriges Jubiläum mit insgesamt drei Liveauftritten, unter anderem beim Rebellion Festival in Blackpool. Da der erfolg sehr groß war, entschied man sich für ein Comeback und plant weitere Liveauftritte. Wer die band seinerzeit verpasst hat, bekommt so nun hier und dort die Möglichkeit versäumtes nachzuholen. Wer sich nun noch immer nicht so recht entscheiden kann, der hat mit dem gerade erschienenen Album, „SANCTUS PROPOGANDA SESSIONS 5“, welches im August 2025 Live im Studio aufgezeichnet wurde und Songs von Nobody Listens Anymore, Phoenix, Shockgun und EP-Material enthält, die Möglichkeit in das Schaffen der Band hineinzuhören. Wenn dem Hörer nun gefällt was dort geboten wird, kann entschieden werden sich The Instigators auch einmal Live zu geben.

The story of The Instigators began in the 1980s. In their original lineup, they released their debut EP in 1984 and the album "Nobody Listens Anymore" a year later, both of which were very well received by critics and fans alike. The punk rockers' sound resonated with listeners and caused quite a stir. The records even landed on the cover of the renowned magazine Maximum Rock 'n Roll. American artist Pushead also supported The Instigators, including songs on his worldwide compilation "Cleanse The Bacteria." The band nearly broke up when the singer, bassist, and drummer all left, leaving only founding member Simon Mooney without a band. However, since they already had some shows booked and Mooney was determined to continue, he quickly recruited Andy Turner and Andy Turnbull, along with Steve Curran on drums, and they toured Europe. In 1986, they released the album Phoenix and crossed the Atlantic for a North American tour, which began on June 27th at Lupos in Providence, Rhode Island, with The Adolescents and Murphy’s Law, and ended on August 14th at On Broadway in San Francisco. In 1987, they released the memorable single “Full Circle / Sleeper,” and with the 1988 album “Shockgun,” they set new standards and completed over 16 extensive European tours. After two extensive European tours in the early 1990s, the Instigators said goodbye in Milan.
Now, in 2025, the band celebrated its 30th anniversary with a total of three live performances, including one at the Rebellion Festival in Blackpool. Due to the overwhelming success of these performances, they decided on a comeback and are planning further live shows. Those who missed the band back then now have the opportunity to catch them here and there. For those still undecided, the recently released album, "SANCTUS PROPOGANDA SESSIONS 5," recorded live in the studio in August 2025 and featuring songs from *Nobody Listens Anymore*, *Phoenix*, *Shockgun*, and EP material, offers a great opportunity to sample the band's work.
