Es muss nicht immer groß sein! Muss nicht immer in den größten, und besten Studios der Welt produziert werden und unmengen an Geld verschlingen. Es gibt unzählige Bands und Künstler, die noch immer im Underground arbeiten und dennoch fantastisches erschaffen. Ja sogar bombastisches. Ein gutes Beispiel hierfür sind die Österreicher Black Metal Musiker, die da unter dem Namen Wolkenstein für Aufregung sorgen. Erst im Jahr 2022, kurz nachdem sich die Welt wieder begonnen hatte „normal“ zu drehen, veröffentlichen Wolkenstein ihr Debüt, unter dem Namen,Abored, welches von J. Berthold (ex Illuminate) beim Gallery Records Label, noch als komplettes Instrumental Werk erschien. Selbiges Album, fand dann auch irgendwie seinen Weg zu uns, oder war es gar so, dass uns Mastermind und Bandgründer Tunjo, bereits im Vorfeld ein, zwei Singles zukommen ließ, ich weiß es nicht mehr. Was ich weiß, ist, dass uns der Sound und die Machart dessen, was uns hier präsentiert wurde von Anfang an fazinierte. Wolkenstein fliegen zwar noch immer weiter unter dem Radar, doch ihr Sound aus rasiermesserscharfen Gitarren-Riffs, treibenden Bass und Drumlinien und die immer wieder einfließenden klassischen Momente machen ihre Musik zu etwas anderem als der übliche Mainstream. So ensteht eine Mischung aus Orchestralem und hartem Black Metal, der nun im neu erschienenen zweiten Studioalbum gepaart mit urtypischen Black Metal Gesang gepaart seine wohl endgültige Form erhalten hat. Acht neue Songs, von denen das In sowie das Outro erneut reine Instrumentels darstellen, erwarten den interessierten Hörer. Die Texte sind in englischer als auch in deutscher Sprache gesungen und klingen wie ein reieisenhaftiger Angriff auf den werten Hörer. Wer zum Beispiel Bands wie Krankheit oder nun auch Klamm Fluch mag, der kommt bei Wolkenstein zu Hundert Prozent auf seine Kosten. Black Metal mal anders, und doch voll auf den Punkt gebracht. Mitreißend, bedrohlich und dennoch irgendwie fazinierend anders. Schade nur, dass man die Werke, zwei Alben und einige Singles, bisher nur über Stremingdienste wie Spotify erhält. Aber wer weiß, vielleicht bringt, …And the Darknes with him, so der Name des neuen Werkes den erwünschten Durchbruch und Wolkenstein werden, auch ausserhalb des Streaming-Universums gehandelt. Zu wünschen wäre es ihnen.

It doesn't always have to be big! It doesn't always have to be produced in the biggest and best studios in the world and cost a fortune. There are countless bands and artists who still work underground and yet create fantastic things. Even bombastic things. A good example of this are the Austrian black metal musicians who are causing a stir under the name Wolkenstein. It wasn't until 2022, shortly after the world had started turning “normally” again, that Wolkenstein released their debut album, Abored, which was released by J. Berthold (ex Illuminate) on the Gallery Records label as a completely instrumental work. The same album somehow found its way to us, or was it that mastermind and band founder Tunjo sent us a couple of singles in advance? I don't remember. What I do know is that we were fascinated by the sound and style of what was presented to us here from the very beginning. Wolkenstein may still be flying under the radar, but their sound, with razor-sharp guitar riffs, driving bass and drum lines, and recurring classical moments, sets their music apart from the usual mainstream. The result is a mixture of orchestral and hard black metal, which has now found its definitive form on the newly released second studio album, paired with archetypal black metal vocals. Eight new songs await the interested listener, of which the intro and outro are once again purely instrumental. The lyrics are sung in both English and German and sound like a relentless attack on the listener. Anyone who likes bands such as Krankheit or Klamm Fluch, for example, will get their money's worth with Wolkenstein. Black metal with a difference, yet still right on the mark. Captivating, menacing, and yet somehow fascinatingly different. It's just a shame that their works, two albums and a few singles, are currently only available via streaming services such as Spotify. But who knows, maybe ...And the Darkness with Him, the name of their new work, will bring them the breakthrough they desire and Wolkenstein will also be traded outside the streaming universe. We wish them all the best.
