Progressive Metal ist die Kunst, Komplexität so zu verpacken, dass sie das Herz berührt. Course Of Fate meistern diese Disziplin auf ihrem neuen Album mit einer Präzision, die beeindruckt. Es ist ein Konzeptalbum der Emotionen, verpackt in ein modernes, druckvolles Soundgewand.
Die Tracklist in der Einzelkritik
1. Memories (1:15)
Ein atmosphärisches Intro, das den Hörer behutsam abholt. Sanfte Melodien legen den Grundstein für die melancholische Grundstimmung des Albums, bevor die Stille durchbrochen wird.
2. Behind The Eclipse (10:00)
Das Herzstück direkt zu Beginn. Zehn Minuten pure progressive Brillanz. Hier zeigt die Band alles: von filigranen Gitarren-Licks übertreibende Double-Bass-Passagen bis hin zu einem epischen Refrain. Der Song wirkt trotz seiner Länge nie langatmig, sondern wie eine perfekt choreografierte Reise durch Licht und Schatten.
3. Sky Is Falling (5:32)
Hier wird das Tempo angezogen. Ein Track, der durch seine Dynamik besticht. Die Riffs sind messerscharf, und der Gesang schwebt mit einer fast schon greifbaren Verzweiflung über dem instrumentalen Chaos – sehr druckvoll!
4. And So It Goes (5:27)
Ein Song, der stark auf Melodie setzt. Er fungiert als emotionaler Anker im ersten Drittel des Albums und zeigt, dass die Band auch im Mid-Tempo-Bereich eine enorme Dichte erzeugen kann.
5. Acolyte (6:26)
Progressive Metal in Reinform. Taktwechsel und komplexe Strukturen bestimmen diesen Song. Es ist ein Track für die "Entdecker" – man hört bei jedem Durchlauf neue Details in den Keyboards und der Basslinie.
6. Hiding From The Light (4:28)
Etwas kompakter und direkter. Dieser Song fokussiert sich auf eine düstere, fast schon greifbare Atmosphäre. Er bildet den perfekten Übergang zum finalen Akt des Albums.
7. Don't Close Your Eyes (5:33)
Eine kraftvolle Hymne mit einer klaren Botschaft. Hier steht die emotionale Performance des Sängers im Vordergrund. Ein Song, der unter die Haut geht und live sicher ein absolutes Highlight sein wird.
8. Neverwhere (6:40)
Der krönende Abschluss. Alle Motive des Albums fließen hier noch einmal zusammen. Der Song baut sich langsam auf und entlädt sich in einem gewaltigen Finale, das den Hörer mit einem Gefühl der Katharsis zurücklässt.
Das Urteil
"Behind The Eclipse" ist ein Meisterwerk der Nuancen. Course Of Fate haben es
geschafft, ein Album zu kreieren, das sowohl technisch anspruchsvoll als auch emotional
zugänglich ist. Für Fans von Dream Theater oder Evergrey ist diese Scheibe ein absoluter
Pflichtkauf.

2. Behind The Eclipse (10:00)
The centerpiece right at the beginning. Ten minutes of pure progressive brilliance. Here, the band shows it all: from intricate guitar licks and driving double-bass passages to an epic chorus. Despite its length, the song never feels tedious; it plays out like a perfectly choreographed journey through light and shadow.
3. Sky Is Falling (5:32)
The pace picks up here. A track that thrives on its dynamics. The riffs are razor-sharp, and the vocals soar over the instrumental chaos with an almost tangible sense of desperation – very high pressure!
4. And So It Goes (5:27)
A song that leans heavily on melody. It acts as an emotional anchor in the first third of the album and proves that the band can create enormous density even in the mid-tempo range.
5. Acolyte (6:26)
Progressive Metal in its purest form. Time signature changes and complex structures define this track. It’s a song for the "explorers" – you discover new details in the keyboards and basslines with every listen.
6. Hiding From The Light (4:28)
A bit more compact and direct. This song focuses on a dark, almost visceral atmosphere. It serves as the perfect transition into the album's final act.
7. Don't Close Your Eyes (5:33)
A powerful anthem with a clear message. Here, the vocalist's emotional performance takes center stage. A song that gets under your skin and will surely be a live highlight.
8. Neverwhere (6:40)
The crowning finale. All the album's motifs converge here once more. The song builds up slowly and discharges in a massive finale, leaving the listener with a sense of catharsis.
The Verdict
"Behind The Eclipse" is a masterpiece of nuance. Course Of Fate has managed to create an album that is both technically sophisticated and emotionally accessible. For fans of Dream Theater or Evergrey, this record is an absolute must-buy im Jahr 2026.
