BABYMETAL feiert ihr 15-jähriges Jubiläum mit ihrem vierten Studioalbum “METAL FORTH". Nach dem Erfolg von “METAL GALAXY” (2019) und dem Konzeptalbum “THE OTHER ONE” (2023) knüpfen sie nun an ihre einzigartige Erfolgsgeschichte an.
Nun muss ich aber gleich zu Beginn dieser Rezension gestehen, dass ich noch nie der große Fan dieser Formation bin oder war. Ich tue mich verdammt schwer mit dem Hype der um diese drei Damen, die außer zu Singen und zu Tanzen, und mit einer wuchtigen Bühnenshow zu glänzen, nicht wirklich viel mit Metal zu tun haben. Die einzig wahre Leistung, liegt hier wohl eher bei ihrer Begleitband der Kami Band. Ok, Babymetal vermag es anscheinend Live tatsächlich mehr als zu überzeugen, dennoch tue ich mich persönlich schwer mit den drei Mädels.
Ich muss aber gestehen, das zumindest der Sound der Songs und der Rhythmus schon ihre eigene Klasse besitzen und somit zum Unterhaltungswert beitragen.
Kommen wir nun also zum fünften und neuen Studioalbum, welches neben den zehn neuen Songs noch weitere Überraschungen parat hält. So ist Metal Forth nicht nur das erste Studioalbum, wieder als Trio, sondern fährt auch verdammt viele Gastmusiker auf, die sich auf insgesamt sieben Songs die Ehre geben. So ist nun also neben der „neuen“, Momoko Okazaki (Momometal), die vor zwei Jah¬ren einstieg, um Yui Mizuno (Yuimetal), die aus gesundheitlichen Gründen die Formation verlassen musste, ersetzt eine Reihe bekannter Größen der Musikszene auf dem neuen Werk zu hören. Von den Grammy-nominierten Spiritbox und Poppy über den deutschen Exportschlager Electric Callboy bis hin zu Rage Against The Machine-Gitarrist Tom ¬Morello reicht die Liste. Aber auch Bloodywood oder gar Slaughter to Prevail geben sich die Ehre, den im Gegensatz des sehr düsteren Vorgängers, The Other One von 2023, doch wieder viel bunter gewordenen Songs ihre eigene Note zu verpassen. Hierbei gelingt Babymetal erneut der Spagat ihren eigen Style perfekt mit dem der Herren und Damen Kollegen zu vereinen.
Dem werten Fan diese modernen Metal’s der den Namen, Kawaii Metal trägt, wird mit großer Sicherheit genau das geliefert, was er von Babymetal erwartet. Unterhaltsam sind Babymetal auf alle Fälle.

BABYMETAL celebrates its 15th anniversary with its fourth studio album, “METAL FORTH.” Following the success of “METAL GALAXY” (2019) and the concept album “THE OTHER ONE” (2023), they are now continuing their unique success story.
However, I must admit right at the beginning of this review that I have never been a big fan of this group. I find it challenging to understand the hype surrounding these three ladies, who, apart from singing and dancing and putting on a powerful stage show, don't really have much to do with metal. The only real achievement here is probably that of their backing band, the Kami Band. Okay, Babymetal seems to be more than convincing live, but I personally still have a hard time with the three girls.
However, I must admit that at least the sound of the songs and the rhythm are in a class of their own and thus contribute to the entertainment value.
So let's move on to the fifth and new studio album, which has more surprises in store besides the ten new songs. Metal Forth is not only the first studio album back as a trio, but also features a hell of a lot of guest musicians who make an appearance on a total of seven songs. So now, in addition to the “new” Momoko Okazaki (Momometal), who joined two years ago to replace Yui Mizuno (Yuimetal), who had to leave the band for health reasons, a number of well-known greats from the music scene can be heard on the new album. The list ranges from Grammy-nominated Spiritbox and Poppy to German export hit Electric Callboy and Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello. But Bloodywood and even Slaughter to Prevail also do the album the honor of adding their own touch to the songs, which, in contrast to the very dark predecessor, The Other One from 2023, have become much more colorful again. Babymetal once again succeeds in perfectly combining their own style with that of their male and female colleagues.
Fans of this modern metal genre, known as kawaii metal, are sure to get exactly what they expect from Babymetal. Babymetal are entertaining in any case.
