Die im Jahr 2008 gegründete deutsche Powermetal Band Thornbridge hatte es, was die Besetzung betrifft bisher leidlich nicht einfach. So tauschten die beiden Gründer, Jörg „Mo“ Naneder (Gitarre/Gesang) und Patrick „Pat“ Rogalski (Gitarre/Gesang) schon vor der eigentlich Festen Namensgebung die Bandkollegen aus. Erst mit Burghi und Lucky fand man das passende Lineup und gab sich den Namen Thornbridge und produzierte unter, Sebastian „Seeb“ Levermann in den Jahren 2014/2015 das Debüt, welches schließlich im Februar 2016 unter der Flagge des Labels, Massacre Records auf den Markt kam. Mit dem Debüt, einem Plattenvertrag und verdammt viel Selbstvertrauen im Gepäck machte man von nun an auch Live auf sich aufmerksam. So spielte man unter anderem im Vorprogram von Saltatio Mortis, Sinbreed, Orden Ogan und gar Mob Rules. 2018 folgte das zweite Album auf dem sich auch die Gastmusiker Andy B. Franck (Brainstorm) und Roberto de Micheli (Rhapsody on Fire) befinden. Wieder wurde das Album von Seeb Levemann produziert und unter Massacre Records veröffentlicht. Es folgte eine tour als Opener für Rhapsody on Fire. So nahm man 2022/23 das nunmehr dritte Album auf. An den Drums ist hier allerdings bereits Nils Kreul zu hören, da sowohl Lucky als auch Burghi die Band aus privaten Gründen wieder verlassen hatten. Seit August 2023 spielen nun die neuen, Tomi Göttlich (Rebellion, ex-Grave Digger) den Bass und Vincent Bechthold (ex-Darkest Horizon) die Drums.
Am 22.März 2024 nun erschien also das dritte Studio Album mit Namen, Daydream Illusion. Bis auf den internen Mitstreiter-Wechsel, hat sich aber bei Thornbridge nichts geändert. So spielt der Vierer nach wie vor feinsten, klassischen Powermetal und präsentiert seine mystischen Geschichten des finstersten Mittelalters in Bestform. Dem gewillten Hörer werden so elf brandneue Songs regelrecht um die Ohren gehauen. Hier bleibt kein Auge trocken und kein Nackenmuskel verschont. Hymnenhaft, eingängig und mit viel Präzision servieren die Herren ihren Sound, und sorgen so für beste Stimmung. Da bleibt nur eins, der Band alles Gute zu wünschen und zu hoffen, dass es nun etwas beständiger fortläuft. Das richtige Material und die besten Voraussetzungen sind bereits vorhanden. Bleibt abzuwarten, was die Zeit da noch bringt. So lange erfreuen wir uns am neuen Material und hoffen die Herren schon bald Live erleben zu können.

The German power metal band Thornbridge, founded in 2008, has not had an easy time so far as the line-up is concerned. The two founders, Jörg "Mo" Naneder (guitar/vocals) and Patrick "Pat" Rogalski (guitar/vocals), swapped bandmates even before the name was actually decided. It was only with Burghi and Lucky that they found the right line-up and gave themselves the name Thornbridge and produced the debut under Sebastian "Seeb" Levermann in 2014/2015, which was finally released in February 2016 under the label's flag, Massacre Records. With the debut, a record deal and a hell of a lot of self-confidence in their luggage, the band started to attract attention live. They played as support acts for Saltatio Mortis, Sinbreed, Orden Ogan and even Mob Rules. The second album followed in 2018, featuring guest musicians Andy B. Franck (Brainstorm) and Roberto de Micheli (Rhapsody on Fire). The album was again produced by Seeb Levemann and released under Massacre Records. This was followed by a tour as opener for Rhapsody on Fire. The third album was recorded in 2022/23. However, Nils Kreul can already be heard on the drums here, as both Lucky and Burghi had left the band for personal reasons. Since August 2023, Tomi Göttlich (Rebellion, ex-Grave Digger) has been playing bass and Vincent Bechthold (ex-Darkest Horizon) drums.
On March 22, 2024, the third studio album with the name Daydream Illusion was released. Apart from the internal change of bandmates, nothing has changed for Thornbridge. The four-piece still play the finest classic power metal and present their mystical tales of the darkest Middle Ages in top form. The willing listener is treated to eleven brand new songs. There is not a dry eye in the house and no neck muscle is spared. Anthemic, catchy and with a lot of precision, the gentlemen serve up their sound and thus ensure the best atmosphere. There's only one thing left to do: wish the band all the best and hope that things continue a little more steadily. The right material and the best conditions are already in place. It remains to be seen what time will bring. Until then, we'll enjoy the new material and hope to be able to see them live soon.
