Ravenstine, endlich mal eine Sache, die an der Pandemie positiv war. Diese Band hat sich im Rahmen der weltweiten Covid-Pandemie gegründet.
In dieser Zeit haben sich Martin Sosna und John A.B.C. Smith zusammengetan und das Debütalbum “Ravenstine” gegründet. Ihr Debüt war extrem erfolgreich und wurde von den Fans sprichwörtlich aufgefressen.
Nun im Jahr 2024 bringen Ravenstine ihren zweiten Silberling raus, mit dem Titel “2024” und auf dieses möchte ich jetzt hier etwas genauer eingehen.
Mit dem Track “Black is the brightest color” geht’s los. Der Song hat ein cooles, Funk-Slap-Bass Intro und trockene Gitarren. Der Song ebnet den Weg für wo die Platte hingehen wird. Coole Gitarren, gute Lyrics und eine gute Stimmung in dem Song machen ihn ein sehr starken Opener für den Silberling.
“Easy come easy go” ist der nächste Track. Hier geht es mit einem Akustik-Intro los, und man könnte meinen es geht in eine Ballade, doch dann wummst die Gitarre mit den Drums rein und man hat eine sehr solide Rock-Nummer, die an Songs von Queensryche erinnert.
Als Nächstes kommt dann “Fly Eagle Fly”, eine sehr schöne Rock-Ballade mit einem schönen Gitarrenlauf. Der Refrain ist wieder einer, wo man auf jeden Fall lauthals mitsingen kann. Diese Nummer wird live bestimmt super rüberkommen.
Es bleibt ruhig aber es handelt sich bei “Signs by the Roadside” nicht um eine Ballade, aber um eine sehr coole, etwas düstere Akustik-Nummer. Hier darf der Drummer sich mal etwas zurücklehnen und eine Pause machen. Dennoch eine geile Nummer.
“In the Light” ist ein Liebeslied, das gut nach vorne geht und einen guten Flow hat. Die Nummer macht unglaublich viel Spaß und auch hier kommen wieder Queensryche Fans auf ihre Kosten.
Mit dem Lied “A long Way home” haben Ravenstine mein Lieblingsintro auf dem Album. Clean Gitarren, die dann in ein richtig fetzigen Refrain gehen, der an guten alten 80er und 90er Metal erinnert. Dieser Song ist auf jeden Fall ein Highlight für mich auf dem Album “2024”.
Ein weiterer Knaller auf dem Silberling ist der Track “Killing Spree”. Hier musste ich tatsächlich genau hinhören, um zu erkennen, dass es sich bei dem Sänger nicht um Bruce Dickinson von Iron Maiden handelt. Dieser Song ist auf jeden Fall was für eingefleischte Fans von Maiden. Mein absoluter Lieblingstrack auf dem Album.
Der letzte Studiotrack auf dem Album heißt “When I’m dead and gone”. Wieder ein Song, der auf der ruhigen Seite ist und an eine klassische Metalballade erinnert. Feine Melodien, einen Refrain zum Mitsingen. In einer Arena wird man hier viele Feuerzeuge oder Handylichter in der Luft sehen.
Mit der Nummer “Freedom Day” schließen Ravenstine das Album mit einem Live-Track ab. Auch hier wieder eine Maiden-ähnliche Nummer. Sehr stampfender Rhythmus, geiler Gesang und ein cooler Refrain runden den Song ab und machen ihn zu einem würdigen Track um das Album zu beenden.
Fazit:
Bei Ravenstine handelt es sich um eine noch sehr junge Band, die aber in dieser kurzen Zeit, seit der Pandemie schon erreicht hat, wofür viele Bands Jahre brauchen. Das Album wird mit Sicherheit sehr erfolgreich sein und darf in keiner Sammlung fehlen. Ein absolutes Muss für Fans von Queensryche und Iron Maiden.
Ich freue mich sehr darauf zu sehen, wie das Album sich durchsetzen wird und hoffe die Jungs in 2024 dann auch live erleben zu können.
Das Album bekommt von mir auf jeden Fall eine volle Punktzahl und eine sichere Kaufempfehlung für alle Metalheads da draußen.
Ravenstine, finally one thing that was positive about the pandemic. This band formed during the global Covid pandemic.
During this time, Martin Sosna and John A.B.C. Smith teamed up and created the debut album “Ravenstine”. Their debut was extremely successful and was literally eaten up by the fans.
Now in 2024, Ravenstine will be releasing their second silver disc, entitled “2024” and I would like to go into this in more detail here.
It starts with the track “Black is the brightest color”. The song has a cool, funk slap bass intro and dry guitars. The song paves the way for where the record will go. Cool guitars, good lyrics and a good atmosphere in the song make it a very strong opener for the silver album.
“Easy come easy go” is the next track. Here it starts with an acoustic intro, and you might think it's turning into a ballad, but then the guitar booms in with the drums and you have a very solid rock number that is reminiscent of songs by Queensryche.
Next comes “Fly Eagle Fly”, a very nice rock ballad with a nice guitar run. The chorus is again one that you can definitely sing along to at the top of your lungs. This number will definitely come across great live.
It stays quiet but “Signs by the Roadside” is not a ballad, but a very cool, somewhat dark acoustic number. Here the drummer can sit back and take a break. Still a great number.
“In the Light” is a love song that moves forward well and has a good flow. The number is incredibly fun and Queensryche fans will get their money's worth here too.
With the song “A long Way home” Ravenstine have my favorite intro on the album. Clean guitars, which then lead into a really groovy chorus that is reminiscent of good old 80s and 90s metal. This song is definitely a highlight for me on the album “2024”.
Another banger on the silver disc is the track “Killing Spree”. I actually had to listen carefully to realize that the singer wasn't Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden. This song is definitely for die-hard Maiden fans. My absolute favorite track on the album.
The last studio track on the album is called “When I’m dead and gone”. Another song that is on the quiet side and is reminiscent of a classic metal ballad. Fine melodies, a chorus to sing along to. In an arena you will see a lot of lighters or cell phone lights in the air.
With the number “Freedom Day”, Ravenstine closes the album with a live track. Here again a Maiden-like number. Very pounding rhythm, great vocals and a cool chorus round off the song and make it a worthy track to end the album.
Conclusion:
Ravenstine is still a very young band, but in this short time since the pandemic they have already achieved what many bands take years to achieve. The album will certainly be very successful and should not be missing from any collection. An absolute must for fans of Queensryche and Iron Maiden.
I'm really looking forward to seeing how the album performs and hope to be able to see the guys live in 2024.
The album definitely gets full marks from me and a safe purchase recommendation for all metalheads out there.
