Klaviermelodien, atmosphärische Keyboardklänge, eingehender Gesang und auf die eine oder andere Art jeden ansprechende Textinhalte, dies ist/war die Grundidee für das Projekt Silent Skies. Gegründet von Evergrey Frontmann Tom S. Englund und dem US-amerikanischen Pianist/Komponist, Virkam Shankar. Kaum jemand hätte gedacht, dass dieses schwedisch/amerikanische Duo etwas so faszinierendes wie Silent Skies auf die Beine stellen könnten. Nun im Jahre 2023 erscheint mit, Dormant, bereits das dritte Studioalbum, nach dem 2020 veröffentlichten Debüt, Satellites und dem 2022 erschienenen, Nectar. Und erneut entführen uns die beiden Ausnahmekünstler in eine Welt, bestehend aus atmosphärischen Klängen, wundervollen Melodien und einer gefühlvollen Stimme. Das Grundgerüst des Albums, besteht dabei aus zehn Neuinterprätationen und drei Coverversionen die an sich bereits Musikgeschichte geschrieben haben, und hier als Neuauflage im Gewand von Silent Skies erscheinen und einen völlig neuen Stellenwert einnehmen. So wie hier dargeboten, hat bisher wohl noch niemand, Iron Maiden’s, The Trooper, Linken Park’s, Numb oder gar Bruce Springsteen’s, Dancing in the Dark, gehört. Das Duo Englund/Shankar, unterschiedlicher, kann man eigentlich nicht sein, passt in ihrem Projekt dermaßen fantastisch zueinander, was sich sofort in allen bisherigen Kompositionen von Silent Skies zeigte und sich ebenso nun auf dem gerade erschienenen dritten Werk fortsetzt. Dormant ist eine zeitlose Reise, die sowohl beruhigend, als auch voller Frische auf den Hörer wirkt. Dormant spiegelt das Leben selbst wieder und trifft mit seinen durchaus ausgeklügelten Lyrics voll ins Schwarze und den Zahn der Zeit. Ein Album um mal wieder so richtig dem Alltag zu entfliehen und kurzzeitig den Stress unserer Tage zu vergessen. Somit kommt hier ein Album, welches im Normalfall eine jeden Hörer ansprechen dürfte. Wir wünschen jedenfalls beste Unterhaltung und maximales Hörvergnügen.
Piano melodies, atmospheric keyboard sounds, in-depth vocals and in one way or another appealing lyrics, this is/was the basic idea for the Silent Skies project. Formed by Evergrey frontman Tom S. Englund and American pianist/composer, Virkam Shankar. Hardly anyone would have thought that this Swedish/American duo could pull off something as fascinating as Silent Skies. Now in 2023, Dormant will be their third studio album, after their debut, Satellites, released in 2020 and Nectar, released in 2022. And again, the two exceptional artists take us into a world consisting of atmospheric sounds, wonderful melodies and a soulful voice. The basic structure of the album consists of ten new interpretations and three cover versions that have already written music history and appear here as a new edition in the guise of Silent Skies and take on a completely new status. As presented here, no one has probably heard Iron Maiden's, The Trooper, Linken Park's, Numb or even Bruce Springsteen's, Dancing in the Dark. The duo Englund/Shankar, you couldn't be more different, fit together so fantastically in their project, which was immediately apparent in all previous compositions by Silent Skies and is now being continued on the third work that has just been released. Dormant is a timeless journey that is both calming and fresh on the listener. Dormant reflects life itself and hits the mark with its well thought-out lyrics and the ravages of time. An album to really escape from everyday life and to forget the stress of our days for a moment. So here comes an album that should normally appeal to every listener.
