Ein Debüt wie ein Vorschlaghammer. So und nicht anders ist das Erstlingswerk der schwedischen, Death/Trash Metal Formation, Blackscape, zu beschreiben. Ein Schlag ins Gesicht, sowohl in seiner Art des musikalischen als auch textlich betrachtet. Das Trio verschwendet keinen Gedanken an Schmerz und überrollt den Hörer förmlich mit seinen schweren Riffs, Rasierklingen scharfen Solis, wummernden Drums und einem unter die Haut gehenden Gesang. Frischer Wind in einem eh schon sehr vielfältigen Genre. Frischer Wind, der aber zu gefallen mag. Der zwar ähnlich seiner vielen Vertreter klingt und doch seinen völlig eigenen Weg zu gehen scheint. Blackscape servieren zehn Songs die es in sich haben. Und so sollte man die Formation schon jetzt im Auge behalten, denn das Debüt ist schon recht vielversprechend und lässt auf mehr hoffen. Ich finde, Massacre Records hat hier gut daran getan sich dieser Band anzunehmen. Aber entscheidet selbst und hört euch, Suffocated By The Sun, selbst an.
A debut like a sledgehammer. That's the way to describe the debut of the Swedish Death/Trash Metal formation, Blackscape. A slap in the face, both musically and lyrically. The trio doesn't waste a thought on pain and literally overwhelms the listener with their heavy riffs, razor sharp solos, thumping drums and singing that gets under your skin. A breath of fresh air in an already very diverse genre. A breath of fresh air, but one that likes to please. Which sounds similar to its many representatives and yet seems to go its own way. Blackscape serve ten songs that have it all. And so you should already keep an eye on the formation, because the debut is quite promising and gives hope for more. I think Massacre Records did a good job of taking on this band. But decide for yourself and listen to Suffocated By The Sun for yourself.
