Rezension by Fenria

So entstehen unter anderem Version von Deep Purples, Space Truckin, Humble Pie’s, 30 Days in the Hole, The Beatles, I’m Down oder gar Rolling Stones, Jumping Jack Flash, in einem völlig neuen Gewand. Besonders beim Beatles Klassiker I’m Down geht dann mal so richtig die Post ab.

So there it is again. Ace Frehley, co-founder and ex guitarist of the hard rock legend Kiss, will present his new studio album called Origins Vol. 2 in 2020. Ace takes rock classics to heart, gives them their personal stamp and brings these unique versions onto the market on CD or vinyl. He doesn't just do this without thinking. No, there is a lot of love in the details here. This is how, among other things, versions of Deep Purples, Space Truckin, Humble Pie’s, 30 Days in the Hole, The Beatles, I'm Down or even Rolling Stones, Jumping Jack Flash, are created in a completely new guise. The songs sound as fresh as ever and instantly bring back memories of the good old days. Ace refines the already brilliant works with his unique playing style, which clearly reflects the typical Spaceman character at every stage of the album. Especially with the Beatles classic I'm Down, things really get going. Just listening to this song makes you wish to have been present during the production yourself. You can feel the groove and fun that the actors must have had to the core. Yes Mr. Frehley, that's what a cover should sound like! Another surprise is provided by one of the really great metal queens of the triumvirate of the 80 ‘(Lee Aaron, Lita Ford, Doro Pesch). Lita Ford takes on the vocals for the Rolling Stones cover Jumping Jack Flash on this album, and she does this with a bravura that demands huge respect from me. Of course, Mr. Frehley also pays homage to his ex-combo and releases a Kiss cover version with the bonus track She, which was penned by Gene Simmons, and rounds off this already fantastic album perfectly. Furthermore, another guest from the Kiss universe takes a small place on the album. Bruce Kulick takes on the guitar in addition to Ace in the song Maniac Depression and makes this another hit on the album with his solos. For me already another milestone in the creative work of this far too often misunderstood artist.
