Rezension by Andy Dax Streetteam Berlin

With their eleventh studio album, the Italian power metallers from Elvenking now come along and deliver part 2 of the 3-part story concept with "Reader of the Runes: Rapture". Here, too, Elvenking prove that they belong right at the top of Folk/Power Metal, because the album gives the listener everything from soft, calm tones to the Battle of the North, what you need to make your mane twirl. From strong rhythms to hymns that you can sing along to melo-death influences, you get your full money's worth with this long player. Following the plot of this concept series, the earlier prophecies of the rune reader come true in the second act and the bombastic, epochal execution of this disc sounds very identical to its predecessor. The two discs go hand in hand and you can easily put yourself in the world of the rune reader. Vocally there is also a lot to be found here, from clean vocals to screaming to the occasional growl. Crunchy guitar riffs, thunderbolts on the drums and medieval instruments can also be heard on the album. The second part follows on seamlessly from its predecessor “Reader of the Runes: Divination” in an epic, exciting and bombastic way. With 11 tracks, the Italians bring a 55-minute journey through the world of fantasy, runes and war scenarios. The listener will never get bored with this musical masterpiece. A successful album that not only die-hard Elvenkings will like, no, also "newbies" in the metal scene or people who didn't know Elvenking yet, this album is a perfect debut in a world you don't want to leave anymore. For me as a guitarist, this album has a huge motivating factor to grab my guitar and bang the strings. My conclusion, 11 songs that couldn't be more different, but still harmonize wonderfully with each other. A great album, good music, great singing, great story and artwork that leaves nothing to be desired. This album gets a 10/10 from me and I highly recommend it.
