Rezension by Fenria Streetteam Berlin

If you hear the name Redemption in the scene of hard sounds, the well-informed fan knows immediately that this is progressive metal made in the USA. And this for more than twenty years now. In fact, Redemption was founded in 2000 by guitarist Nick van Dyk and some former members of bands like Symphony X or Steel Prophet. After a few personnel changes, the band now consists more of founder van Dyk and former members of bands such as Fates Warning or Prymary. Since their inception, Redemption have celebrated the sound and style of progressive metal. Here, however, skilfully, as is not usual in the scene, always with the so-called stick out of the bag, which brought the band a lot of praise from critics and fans alike. The exceptional musicians now prove again on their current, eighth studio album, I am the Storm, that they appreciate this and therefore remain true to themselves. The fact that the fivesome still knows how to combine heaviness and emotion, which isn't exactly the order of the day in the progressive metal scene, I don't think it needs to be mentioned at this point. This has been proven over the years. So it is that the style of the band hardly differs from its predecessors on the new work and thus sets another milestone in the history of the band. I am the Storm is exactly as the album's name proclaimed. A storm that has risen to shake the music world. Again, the lyrics are more positively oriented, and yet they deal with human existence with all its strengths and weaknesses. Technically speaking, the new work is once again a real challenge that each of the five musicians fulfills perfectly. Everyone has something special about their instrument. We can only recommend the new work with its total of ten songs, which will be released on CD, DVD, vinyl and, as is usual today, also in the stream and wish you maximum listening pleasure.
