I actually thought nothing could surprise me anymore what comes of metalic sounds from the far north. In most cases, it's Sweden or Finland that adorn themselves with the slightly heavier sounds. The album I have now is also about a formation that comes from Sweden. How damn it can happen from time to time that great bands like Narnia just slip through my fingers and I don't take notice. shame on my head. Just imagine, Narnia took its first breaths back in 1993 when Christian Liljegren and Carl Johan Grimmark met. By 1996, having decided to shut down their other projects, they had the first material together, which led to the band's debut in 1998. Up until 2008 they produced a total of six studio albums and one live CD/DVD. Liljegren left the band to take some time off. With Germán Pascual as the new singer, they recorded the album Course of Generation in 2009 and then announced in 2014 that they had reunited and from now on want to start again in the formation, Christian Liljegren and Carl Johan Grimmark. Today, now in 2023, Ghost Town is the ninth studio album and it's pretty damn tough. Both lyrically, here and there almost every listener will recognize themselves in some way. They address the issues of the time and underline them with an incredible sound full of power and emotions. Instrumentally almost too perfectly, the members literally play the feeling from the soul. Liljegren can absolutely convince vocally with his unmistakable voice, which reminds me more and more of the great Ronnie James Dio with every pass. Narnia always move in the waters of classic Heavy Metal, but here and there they bring in influences of Power Metal as well as Symphonic Style, which makes their sound unique again. So Ghost Town has something for every fan and can rightly count itself among the great albums of our time.
