John Diva and the Rockets of Love – The Big Easy
Tja, was soll man sagen? Nach “Mama said Rock is dead” folgte dann der, mindestens genauso starke, Langspieler “American Amadeus”. Jetzt jedoch, im März 2023 kommt “The Big easy” heraus und was soll man dazu sagen?
"John Diva and the Rockets of Love" are back and stronger than ever !!!!

“Bang Bang – that's why god made Radio” heißt es im Refrain. “Back in the Days” ist der nächste Titel. "The Limit is the Sky" so heißt der nächste Hit auf der Scheibe.

John Diva and the Rockets of Love - The Big Easy
Well, what can you say? "John Diva and the Rockets of Love" have become synonymous with party, hair metal and good humor in recent years. With their debut album “Mama said Rock is dead” they have already shown that they are on the same level as Poison, Def Leppard and Mötley Crüe. On a joint tour with Kissin Dynamite and then also with Europe and Def Leppard, the Rockets of Love took off even more. There is now a really large fan base in this country. After "Mama said Rock is dead" followed the long player "American Amadeus", which was at least as strong. The guys took their time with the album for a total of 3 years, but you won't be disappointed here either. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, the guys here couldn't tour as extensively to promote the album as the album deserved. However, now, in March 2023, “The Big Easy” is coming out and what can one say about it? The CD is an absolute hit for every rock 'n' roll fan. Put on your leopard leggings, cowboy boots and Guns n Roses tank tops.
"John Diva and the Rockets of Love" are back and stronger than ever !!!!

The album opens with a very groovy 60's/70's tune, only to segue into the crunchy rhythms of the album's title track, “The Big Easy”. This song is a bit reminiscent of Poison's Unskinny Bob without sounding like a copy. You can think of the song perfectly as an opener for the live show. Good guitar, good vocals and a chorus that gives you a feeling of freedom. How is it supposed to continue on the album when it starts off so strong? With “God made Radio” the guys step on the gas pedal a little more and you have a song to swing your mane. "Bang Bang - that's why god made radio" says the refrain. Exactly that fits. This song is easy to imagine on the radio, with the window open, in the Cadillac on Highway 1 on the California coast. Now follows one of my personal favorites from the album: “Runaway Train”. In this song, good Mr. Diva tells that you should never give up and always follow your dreams. A strong intro, good lyrics and vocals and a really rocking and catchy chorus make this number a runaway train that you have to try to stop first. The next thunderstorm follows immediately with the bang "Thunder". Everyone can sing along and celebrate here. Another strong piece. Here the 5 rockets show that they are very well versed in their profession and that their music is really multi-faceted. Influences from Def Leppard's “slang” can be heard here and that's a good thing because the song is just fun. With the song "Believe" you have a real "good mood song" again, which describes that everyone needs something to believe in. Here you can hear that the band believes in their music. This is one of those songs that one would love to see live. “Back in the Days” is the next track. A little “Campfire Song” which can be played nicely at the lake picnic in the evenings when everyone is sitting around the fire. A beautiful song with very positive vibes. Now things get quieter with a ballad “Hit and Run”. A song about heartbreak and despair. Nobody wants to be alone. The good Mr. Diva really shows here that he not only masters cool Hard Rock songs, no, he is also the master of his voice and gives everything here. It goes big. With "Boys don't play with dolls" they brought wind instruments on board. The fanfares add the icing on the cake to the crisp song. These 4 minutes are fun right away and you really get in the mood to hit the dance floor. "The limit is the sky" is the name of the next hit on the disc. Anyone who has not yet felt like rock 'n' roll, summer, beach and partying will drop their shells here at the latest and go off like Schmitz Katzen. An absolute party number!!!! With the penultimate number "Capri Style" there is something to dance and feel good again. An epic chorus that invites everyone to sing along. The colorful cocktail with the umbrella will taste even better here. The last song is "Wild at Heart", a rather uncommonly quiet song to close an album, but that doesn't mean anything as this number gives everyone a chance to sing along again. The song begins with a chorus of "ohhhs" that anyone can remember and sing along to. A very soulful and beautiful number that you always like to listen to again and again. A strong finish.

Conclusion: Everyone should have this album in their collection. When it's done, you want to hear it all over again from the beginning. Lots of fun, good vibes, crisp riffs and just great rock 'n' roll make this album a MUST for every rock, hair metal and glam metal fan. It gets a 10/10 from me and I'm happy already to be able to experience the boys live again soon. If you don't know "John Diva and the Rockets of Love" yet, get out there, get one of the 3 albums and enjoy good California rock in all its glory.
