Rezension by Fenria Streetteam Berlin

Secretly, quietly and quietly and not with loud fireworks, the gentlemen Lord of the Lost just released their new album called Blood and Glitter at the turn of the year, on December 31st, 2022. Just one day later, that is New Year's, the same formation quickly hits the top and releases a new single called Leave Your Hate in the Comments. Well, for me it's a real firework display, albeit from a musical point of view. And let's be honest, what Mr. Chris Harms does can only be good. That's the way it is with the latest coup of his combo. Not that they just came up with something completely new for the new work, no. You sound completely unfamiliar and yet again 100 percent like Lord of the Lost. this time, however, it pays homage to a bygone time and era. Lord of the Lost travel back in time on Blood and Glitter, back to the glorious seventies and eighties. The seventies in particular were known for their glitz and glitter. Icons like David Bowie brought color and excess to the music world. This spread until the early eighties and sometimes led to the success of that time, which is still lasting today. This is exactly where Lord of the Lost comes in and with their new material they pay tribute to this time, which also shaped them. But you don't just do this by adopting the sounds and styles of your former colleagues, no. Lord of the Lost wouldn't be Lord of the Lost if you couldn't clearly feel and hear the traces of their own style here. And so the band unites the sounds of yesteryear with their pop, rock and psychedelic sound with the metallic line of the Lords. It's almost impossible not to be captivated by this thunderstorm of songs. And this from the first to the last note. This is how Lord of the Lost manage to release a work that makes them appear as unmistakable as the musicians behind this band themselves. Twelve new numbers, some of which include well-known colleagues such as Andy LaPlegua (Combichrist), Ally Storch (Subway to Sally, Ally the Fiddle) or even a flower give the honor of making this work what it is in the end. Namely again a small work of art of the music of Lord of the Lost. Blümchen has the honor of giving the thirteenth song its special touch, which is being promoted here as a bonus track to a cover version of the Roxette song, The Look. Lord of the Lost continue undeterred on their chosen path. They break with prejudices, clichés, genre noms and conventions and make a strong statement with their new work. So Blood and Glitter is not just an album that will appeal to fans of this band, but also a part of music history that will also appeal to listeners who are completely unfamiliar with the scene. In any case, for our part we are again enthusiastic and award ten out of ten points and thus a clear purchase recommendation for this work, which is of course available on all common streaming portals, but also in many physical forms.
