Was soll man über eine Band erzählen, die seit nunmehr dreißig Jahren Im Geschäft ist und so beinah alles erreicht hat, was man erreichen kann? Nun, man könnte damit beginnen das diese deutsche Powermetal Band, gerade dieser Tage eben ihren dreißigsten Geburtstag feiert. Man könnte auch erzählen, das die band somit im Jahre 1994 ihre Gründung fand und das mittlerweile lediglich der Leadsänger und Frontman als einziges noch verbliebenes Gründungsmitglied und somit die Speerspitze des Ganzen ist. Man könnte auch erwähnen, das diese Band ihren Geburtstag mit einem tatsächlich außergewöhnlichen Geschenk, an ihre Fans, in Form eines „Best of“ Albums, begeht.
Man könnte aber auch einfach damit beginnen den Namen der Band zu nennen, um dann näher auf bereits erwähntes einzugehen.
Na dann….
Die deutschen Powermetaler, Mob Rules, nicht zu verwechseln mit dem Black Sabbath Klassiker Album, mit gleichem Namen, feiern der Tage ihr dreißigstes Bandbestehen.
Wie bereits erwähnt, feiern sie dies nun mit einem außergewöhnlichen „Best of“ Album. Und nein, ich fange jetzt nicht wieder an, dass ich meine Sorgen und Probleme mit solchen Alben habe. Das ist im vorliegenden Beispiel völlig daneben und unnötig.
Mob Rules servieren ein Album, über zwei CDs die es mal sowas von in sich haben. Angefangen, damit das auf jeder der zwei Silberlingen, fünfzehn, in Zahlen, 15, Songs enthalten sind. Für die die nun in der Schule nicht aufgepasst haben und des Rechnens nicht Herr sind, dass macht ganz Dreißig (30) Songs. So kommt man spielend auf das Maximum dieser Tonträger und serviert mal locker Einhundertfünfzig Minuten, feinsten, Powermetal, made in Germany. Hierbei belässt man es dann aber auch nicht mal eben dabei, einfach eine wilde Ansammlung an den meist gespielten oder gar „besten“ Songs zu servieren. Ganz im Gegenteil. Man hat natürlich nicht auf die Klassiker verzichtet, dies wäre dann doch zu verrückt und gewagt. Aber man paart die Klassiker gekonnt mit Songs, die eher selten bis gar nicht großartig in den playlisten der Band auftauchen, aber dennoch ihre Daseinsberechtigung bewiesen haben, in dem sie auf dem einen oder anderen Album ihre Veröffentlichung fanden. Versüßt wird dann das Ganze noch mit drei neuen Coversongs, die unterschiedlicher nicht sein könnten. Man hat sich dafür mit viel Liebe und größter Sorgfalt an die Klassiker, Run tot he Hills (Iron Maiden), Fame (Iren Cara „Soundtrack“ zum gleichnamigen Film) und Square Hammer (Ghost), heran gewagt, und selbige im neuen Mob Rules Gewandt aufgenommen.
So wird Celebration Day – 30 Years of Mob Rules, wie das Album nun heißt, zu einer echten Zeitreise durch die Bandgeschichte. Wer hier nun nicht zugreift, dem ist nicht mehr zu helfen.
Von uns bekommt das Album, und das trotz, oder sogar besonders wegen der Bezeichnung, Best Of, das Prädikat „Besonders Wertvoll“, volle zehn Punkte und die unbedingte Kaufempfehlung.
Mehr muss hier nicht erwähnt werden….!!!

What can you say about a band that has been in the business for thirty years now and has achieved almost everything that can be achieved? Well, you could start with the fact that this German power metal band is celebrating its thirtieth birthday these days. One could also say that the band was founded in 1994 and that meanwhile only the lead singer and frontman is the only remaining founding member and thus the spearhead of the whole thing. One could also mention that this band is celebrating its birthday with a truly extraordinary gift to its fans in the form of a “best of” album.
But you could also simply start by mentioning the name of the band and then go into more detail about what has already been mentioned.
Well then....
The German power metal band Mob Rules, not to be confused with the Black Sabbath classic album of the same name, are celebrating their thirtieth anniversary these days.
As already mentioned, they are celebrating this with an extraordinary “best of” album. And no, I'm not going to start telling you again that I have my worries and problems with albums like this. In this example, that is completely off the mark and unnecessary.
Mob Rules serve up an album over two CDs that has it all. Starting with the fact that each of the two discs contains fifteen, in numbers, 15 songs. For those of you who didn't pay attention at school and are not good at arithmetic, that makes thirty (30) songs. So you can easily reach the maximum of this record and serve up one hundred and fifty minutes of the finest power metal, made in Germany. But they don't just leave it at serving a wild collection of the most played or even “best” songs. Quite the opposite. Of course, they haven't left out the classics, as that would be too crazy and daring. But the classics are skillfully paired with songs that rarely or not at all appear in the band's playlists, but have nevertheless proven their right to exist by being released on one album or another. The whole thing is then sweetened with three new cover songs that couldn't be more different. The classics Run tot he Hills (Iron Maiden), Fame (Iren Cara “soundtrack” to the film of the same name) and Square Hammer (Ghost) were approached with a lot of love and great care and recorded in the new Mob Rules guise.
Celebration Day - 30 Years of Mob Rules, as the album is now called, is a real journey through the band's history. Anyone who doesn't grab it now is beyond help.
Despite, or even because of the title, Best Of, the album gets the rating “Especially Valuable”, a full ten points and an unconditional recommendation to buy.
